    Hi John !

    Amazing template you did there ! I am using it, and I nearly got my blog looking like I wanted to…

    Just one thing… any possibility to get a bigger image header as 200 x 45 pixels is really tiny and hardly readable…

    Thx again for your great job !

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      thx you! well right now you can hack the code to insert a bigger header. My next release in a couple of weeks will allow you to increase header size. I’m working on it right now.

      • http://www.ludojapon.hebergratuit.com Ludosaka

        ok, I’ll do this…

        I am trying to put a newsletter php widget on the sidebar of the template, but cannot find where to put the line for it ! I tried in the sidebar templates but it doesn’t word… any idea ?
        It’s like :
        <?php
        $content = apply_filters('the_content', ' ‘);
        echo $content;?>

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          hum… no sure, side bar template should work. there are two sidebar templates one for pages and one for the blog.

      • http://www.staceydepolo.com Stacey DePolo

        Hey John, Love your theme, trying it out and I already managed to hack the code to remove the header graphic once but I can’t recall how to REMOVE header graphic altogether, also can you please say WHAT style or element in header.php or styles.css to allow the blog title and tagline text to extend out more than 200PX? I did it once but can’t recall how, so I know it can be done. Just need to find which style to edit.

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          Hi Stacy, to remove the graphic you can actually go into the theme under “custom header” and click use default. As far as the text extending past 200px, I’ll be updating this in my next release but there is a class called yui-gf in the header.php file replace it with yui-gd. see if that works.

      • mikey

        I have been trying to do this for ages…cannot figure it out. I have tried hacking the code except if i do get a bigger header to appear, only a small portion of the image remains clickable to home.

        Would you be able to explain how to edit the code to do this? Its all a bit confusing for me :)

        THANKS!

        • http://smomotion.com/ :: smo ::

          there’s an invisible image called default.gif in the images folder, i just made a version of it that was the size i wanted and replaced the file on my ftp. worked great! i think it’s fixed in the new version though.

  • su

    Is there a way to get the bground to load faster? I am finding that the rest of the content is loading faster than the bground image. I’d at least like some color other than white to load with the text…

    thanks for any tips!

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      yeah, you can do a couple of things. use http://www.smush.it to optimize your background image as small as possible… also you can move the location from style.php ti style.css so it loads earlier on the page. If you don’t know css I can send you the code with instructions.. thx

  • James

    Thanks for making a great template. Once quick question. Is there a way to make the columns and main body transparent, so I can see part of the background image?

    Thanks.

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      You can do it but you will have to hack the css. I’ll post some code tomorrow. Also I’ll add that as a feature in my next release due out on Wed next week.

      Thx

      • James

        That’s great. I’ll wait for the code, as I’m not sure how to do that without some guidance.

        Also, do I have to tile my background image, or can it be on large jpeg, e.g. 800×600?

        Much appreciated.

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          yeah you can use a large jpeg, there’s an option to tile or not in theme options.

        • James

          HI John. Checking in on that code for transparent content windows, e.g. the main white body content window and the sidebar?

          Thanks. James

          • http://johndturner.com John Turner

            look for it on friday!

          • James

            Dumb question maybe, but where should I be looking for this?

            thx.

  • http://twitter.com/funkyjudge Funkyjudge

    Thanks John for a great theme. Been looking for a Mondrain WP theme to match the background of my Twitter page but the one i found was poor. Glad i found this one so i can add the same background image. Now my blog almost matches the twitter page.

    http://www.jgeilsband.net/blog/
    http://twitter.com/funkyjudge

    Can’t wait for the update so i can make the header image larger.

    One question, how do i make the header image a clickable link to the home page?

    Thanks.

    Francis

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Thanks, glad you like it, to make the logo linkable go into the themes custom header image option and click, “Hide Text” this should make you logo go back to the home page.

    Hi John,

    Do you know why in Safari and Seamonkey browsers on the Mac, the bottom half looks odd? The white background behind the posts does not continue to the bottom of the page. I now have it hosted on a different domain to the last time. The address is: http://juke7.net/

    This is what i see: http://img.skitch.com/20090530-rq3aqux5hb56ak6fa3s78gi37g.jpg

    Can’t remember seeing it last time on the other domain but i mostly used Camino then.

    Thanks

    UPDATE: Forget all the above. Seems to go back to normal after a refresh of the page. Now i feel silly LOL

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      no prob :)’

  • Max Dashu

    I picked your theme for my new WordPress blog but can’t figure out how to customize it. How to add a background image, change colors, etc?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Go under appearance and click “theme options”

  • caroline

    is it possible to use just one column on this?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      yes, there should be a page template called “No Sidebar”

  • http://tankini.it/ Jana

    Hi John!

    I downloaded your template because I like very much the background an colors as they are shown in the example. Only afterwords I realized, that it has to be customized. For all other blogs this may be great – but mine is about beachwear and your version would be perfect! So can I use your background-image?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      yes, please see the licensing down below, I’m actually not the author of the background. @G_Obieta is. Make sure to give him credit like I did.

      • http://tankini.it/ Jana

        Thank you. Unfortunately I didn´t manage to contact Obieta yet- as I´m completely unfamiliar with twitter/social media. But I´ll try on later.

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          you don’t have to contact him, just make sure you give him credit in your footer

          • http://tankini.it/ Jana

            All right, now I understand. I thought, credit means that I have to pay something, and I didn´t find any price;-) You see, I´m quite a newbee… Thanks again!

            great theme

  • Candice

    Seriously dude? … Whatever.

    Anyway, I was going to tell you that something’s funked in your CSS regarding the Calendar widget, or more correctly, there is nothing in your CSS for the Calendar widget so it comes out looking like crap.

    I’ve taken the liberty of making it (and the search widget) not suck for you. See it here: http://hawaii.candicimo.com

    The only detail specific to THIS beige/blue theme is the background image I used to go behind today’s date – which is beige. You could just comment out the image and uncomment the background color and link that with your Colorlovers thing I guess.

    In theory, I guess you could PROBABLY use a PNG and just make it a transparency difference thing so that you’d never have to change the image… but I’m still new to PNGS and all that. (If you’re wondering, that’s what my header image is… and no, I haven’t had time to make sure it’s completely cross-browser compatible.)

    Here’s some CSS for you, even though you’re a wanker and deleted my comments.

    /* Begin Calendar */
    #wp-calendar {
    empty-cells: show;
    width: 155px;
    }

    #wp-calendar #next a {
    padding-right: 0px;
    text-align: right;
    }

    #wp-calendar #prev a {
    padding-left: 0px;
    text-align: left;
    }

    #wp-calendar a {
    display: block;
    }

    #wp-calendar caption {
    text-align: center;
    width: 100%;
    }

    #wp-calendar td {
    padding: 3px 0;
    text-align: center;
    }

    /* #wp-calendar td.pad:hover { /* Doesn’t work in IE */ */
    /* background-color: #fff; } */
    /* End Calendar */
    /* More Calendar */
    #wp-calendar caption, cite {
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    #wp-calendar {
    font-size: 8pt;
    }
    #wp-calendar #prev a, #wp-calendar #next a {
    font-size: 8pt;
    }

    #wp-calendar a {
    color: #3C7883;
    text-decoration: none;
    font-size: 8pt;
    z-index: 5;
    }

    #wp-calendar caption {
    font: bold 1.3em ‘Lucida Grande’, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;
    text-align: center;
    border-bottom:1px solid #947546;
    }

    #wp-calendar th {
    font-size: 8pt;
    font-style: normal;
    text-transform: capitalize;
    }

    #wp-calendar td#today {
    padding: 0px;
    color: #947546;
    font-weight:bold;
    background-image: url(‘images/today.gif’);
    /* border:solid 1px #ffffff; */
    /* background-color: #5EA2AE; */
    }
    /* End More Calendar */

    Is it possible to not have the page centered?….I’d like to have the page stay at the same location on the background no matter what the window size is.

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Yeah, it’s possible , but not built in. you’ll have to tweek the css. I’ve seen someone that has done it, but do not have the code available to give you.

    As a designer, not a programmer, I found this template great for customizing. One small thing – I’ve put a dark image at the top, and made the button background match; however, there appear to be small white corners around the button at the top. How do I get rid of these?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      post your url and I’ll take a look

  • http://cs22.ca/ Ravi

    Thanks for Twordder. This is almost exactly what I needed. I want to get up and running without having to become a coding expert. This theme allows me to transtition from a wysiwyg editord and ftp to WordPress with time invested (other than testing various options and finding this one).

    I make simple pages focusing on content for my own personal interests or I help other family members get up and running. Good wysiwyg editors cost a fair bit and then I have to train them and numerous concepts that have nothing to do with their desire to be creative and to publish.

    Thank you once again and ignore any non constructive criticism.

    Hi John,

    I have downloaded your theme fromWordpress and I do love it, but is there anyway I can get the fonts bigger?

    Can you help me out?
    Thanks
    Catherine

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Fonts are controlled in the style.css file. You can change the size there.

      • Anonymous

        John,

        Thank you for your e-mail. Can you please point me in the right direction within the style.css. Is it within the base? I did try to change some of these percentages, but it did not appear to make any difference.

        Am I doing something wrong?

        Also, when you finish the three column will I be able to upgrade my existing website without have to make many changes or will I have to reconfigure?

        Thanks

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          Here’s a table for the fonts size below the video on this page. http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/fonts/ . Clear your cache to have the style refresh.

          The 3 column version is built on a new architecture. Built most of the option remain such as custom background colors, etc..

            Thank you very much John.

            I look forward to seeing the 3 column version of Twordder

    Sorry John,

    Hi,

    I just moved to a self-hosted blog and I am currently using your template. I was wondering if you could tell me how to get the contents of the side bar on the pages. For example, on my main page it has the categories, etc but on the custom pages it doesn’t.

  • http://smomotion.com/blog :: smo ::

    Hey! I’m kind of new to wordpress and have been messing around with your theme. I really dig it! Just a couple of questions:

    in version 1.4.1 i was able to hack the image size and link for the header, and there was a “rounded” class to make the header rounded too. but in 1.4.3 it looks like the rounded class is gone? how would i go about making my header rounded again?

    also how do i customize that drop down menu at the top? it’s a great idea! I was going to make a menu out of images eventually but I’d like to see how to edit the dropdown just in case.

    Thanks much!!!

    • http://smomotion.com/blog :: smo ::

      oops! my bad, i found how to control the navbar, pages! brilliant and so simple!

      but info on how to round the corners on my header in the new version would be a great help still!

      thanks again!

      • http://smomotion.com/blog :: smo ::

        haha ok found another weird thing:

        in moving the navbar at the top around i find that it creates a dead space in the header link [especially if the image is bigger, mine is a full 750px] that dead space extends from the top of the page down to wherever you put the navbar. and when you tell it to float left it isn’t flush with the left of the rest of the content, it hovers at the edge of that dead space.

        are there parameters defined for the position of the nav somewhere else? i noticed it references another script to function.

        i’m not really sure how to solve this. or maybe i’m trying to push the theme too far?

        i’m sorry for all these questions feel free to ignore them, but if they’re easy fixes or something and you have a minute i’d appreciate it! i’d like to get my nav bar under my header and possibly center it or align it left.

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          looks like you found the rounded class, as far as the dead space, that’s a limitation of the theme. look for the next version coming in the next month. should fix that issue

          • http://smomotion.com/ :: smo ::

            actually i downgraded back to the previous version where i could get the rounded class to work. couldn’t figure it out in the newest, it seemed like it changed; but i might mess with it more. and i’m excited to see your new version!

            i’m currently trying to figure out the commenting i like what you have running right here over the gravatar, are these comments all plugins or are they in the newer template too?

            not that you have to do all this legwork! ha! i fiddled with my template some more and made it my main website link, thanks so much for all the work you put in on this it’s fun! i’m probably going to take away the nav and just add some bigger graphic links of my own to make it easier for clients to see my work and make it look more websitey, but i’m going to keep all your credits at the bottom since i’m definitely using your skeleton!

          • http://johndturner.com John Turner

            cool, glad the old version worked.

            I use http://www.disqus.com for my comment. I like them alot!

            This is a test version I’m running right now. I hope to release it by the end of the month.

    John,

    I’m having issues with folks that view the site in IE 6. The content windows do not show up on the page and subsequently throws the page off and text is hard to read given my background. I’ve heard that it could be a style sheet issue with 6? Any ideas on what can be done to fix?

    Can you send me an email, and I would be happy to forward a screen shot of it?

    Thanks,

    James

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Hi James,

      I’m not sure what it could be , I don’t support IE 6 in any of my work. I don’t event have a way to test IE 6. I recommend putting a friendly message urging users to upgrade. A lot of other major companies have drop IE 6 support also. You Tube and Digg to name a couple.

    I am looking forward to the port over to thematic. I teach high school digital arts and I am converting my class page over to WordPress. Hi, thanks for this theme which I have used on my site http://www.twitterlicious.co.uk – I wanted to match my blog appearance up to my twitter account at http://www.twitter.com/TweepleTips and this has done perfectly for that job.

    One slight hitch. I want the sidebar widgets to show up on the Pages. I’ve looked at the code in Theme Editor and can’t see where the problem lies. In the Page edit section if I select the “default” template there are no sidebar widgets. Same for the Page with No Sidebar template. How can I set the “default” to show the widgets? Any suggestion much appreciated. Code is not really my thing so it’s probably really obvious! L:D

    Hi John! Awesome template! I just got three questions:

    1. I noticed that when you go to the other pages in my blog (except the main page) , the side bar is empty, is there a way to make the side bar content be the same in all pages or to at least get rid of that space so the rest of the content can extend out?

    2. Is there a way I can get rid of the menu bar inside the header?

    3. Where can I change the font size of the titles in the side bar menus & the titles of each one of my posts?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      1. There’s a separate sidebar for page and blog under widgets.

      2. Css is : #nav-wrapper{display:none};

      3. You can change the font size in the css.

      Thx

    hi there.
    Love the theme, probably the best I have come across and the option to customize is amazing.
    I do experience a problem with using the colourlovers.com option. When I click on the Get Colour, there is simply no response to it. I have entered the ID above.
    Am I missing something here? Appreciate your advice on this.
    Thanks again for the great theme!

    John! You’re the man! Great theme!

    Quick question: I’m having a hell of a time trying to hack to code to center my background image. I’ve read previous posts and took a look at that link on how to do it, but I have been unsuccessful in my endeavors to get it to work properly. Here’s where I’m at:

    I’ve got the following code that I’ve been inserting into the [body] section of style.css:

    background-image:url(‘imagelocation.jpg’);
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    background-position:top center;

    …just as every site I’ve seen has specified. But it is not working. Instead, it puts my background image at the verrrry bottom of every page below ALL of the content and still doesn’t center it.

    Perhaps there is a bit of code somewhere else I need to tweak? Any chance you might be able to shed some light on this?

    Much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Robert

      Hey John,

      I found it! It’s in functions.php:

      Line 842 is the damn culprit:

      background-position:left top;

      …changes to:

      background-position:top center;

    This is so awesome. Thank you so much. I didn’t have any interest in learning to code for WP and I didn’t have any luck trying to find someone to make a theme for me (I offered money and cookies, but no one took me up on the offer). All I wanted was for my blog to match the rest of my social media but apparently this is a complicates thing, lol. So, thank you. You are awesome.

    Oh, btw, when I try to add my customer header, I get this message:

    Missing a temporary folder.

    Any ideas?

    How do I go about removing the discs or bullet points next to the links in the sidebar? Thanks for a great theme!

  • http://www.facebook.com/robertsackett Robert Sackett

    Hey John, me again.

    I’m having a super difficult time getting the code to allow a larger header image. Is there an update you’re planning that is going to make this easier and more seamless? 200 x 45 is quite honestly unusable.

    It appears as though the pages links to the right of the header take up a maximum of half the width of the blog, right? Is there a way I can extend the width of the header image to match the remainder of the space available?

    Or can you at least point me in the right direction as far as files and lines of code to modify?

    I’ve looked in header.php and didn’t find anything that jumped out at me to modify.
    I’ve looked in functions.php and found a few lines that appeared to be of interest, but couldn’t get them to perform the way I wanted them to.

    If I tweak the code, should I disable the custom header options that I’ve set in the interface and modify the lines of code that point to default.gif to point my own header image that I have separately uploaded?

    Appreciate any light you can shed on it. I really don’t want to modify the code too much (makes upgrading a gigantic PITA), but if I have to in order to get a header that fits well into the blog (as opposed to feeling like an afterthought), I’m gonna do my damndest to make it work.

    Super grateful for any assistance you could provide.

    Cheers sir! :)

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      There should be a place in the theme option to chage the header width and heigh depending on there version you’re running. If not lines 34 and 35 in functions.php , you can hard code the values.

      • http://www.facebook.com/robertsackett Robert Sackett

        Hey John – Bingo! I saw those lines and changed them, but it didn’t inherently change the image I had already uploaded (I expected it to). After making the changes however and reuploading a new header image, it recropped based on the new values that I modified in lines 34 and 35 and it cropped based on those values.

        Thanks!

    Hi John,

    Great template…thanks! Pretty easy to use – even for a newbie ;-)

    I am using a custom header and when I upload it and preview it it looks fine but on my website it has a small white tab/bubble at the top right hand side…I can find an option to get rid of this…’hide text’ doesn’t remove it.

    Can you help?

    Cheers

    • Anonymous

      I found your answer to another question and edited the code (nav – overlay – color – none etc!) and it worked…thanks!

  • http://www.facebook.com/robertsackett Robert Sackett

    Hey John, me again! :-/

    This time, I think I’ve found a flat out bug. :(

    I’m attempting to add a Page with an iframe in it that points to an .aspx file, and the result I get appears as though the frame covers literally everything else – sidebar, background, header, everything – so that the entire page other than the content of the frame is white.

    I’m new to WordPress, so I goofed at first and accidentally did all my drafting in Posts, not Pages, and check this – it worked perfectly in Posts. A Page however, with the exact same code does not display properly. Need you to take a look at this and see if it isn’t a theme bug, because I’ve tried the Page with other themes and cannot replicate the same bug I’m seeing with Twordder.

    Should I email you the code and links I’m working with to see if you can’t replicate as well? Let me know…

    Cheers,

    Robert

      Hey John, just wanted to check up on this one. Any word? Been able to take a look at this yet?

      Appreciate anything…

    Just stopped by to say Thanks for a great theme! The new release makes it pretty easy to customize.

    I didn’t go too crazy with my customization, but I can see the possibilities and will definitely be tinkering with my layout as time goes on.

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      nice customizations!

  • Heather

    If I click on the About link on our blog, there’s no Home link to take me back to the blog front page without using my browser buttons.

    Any solution to this?

  • http://www.mimismom.com/ Darcie

    Thanks for the theme! Together with ColourLovers.com customising, this is like making your own custom style with very, very little effort! It’s even… fun?

      Thx for the props! :)

    John, thanks for creating Tworrder, for a code-struggling artist like me it has more visual interactive options than any of the 15 templates I’ve tried so far. A few questions for you:

    1) When I do paragraph spacings in a blog post in visual mode it often doesn’t stick and won’t space at all, putting the bottom line right below the top line. When in html I can insert and it’ll hold, until I want to try visual mode again it drops the paragraph spacings. Any ideas?

    2) The categories are very tough to figure out (like where to go to understand the difference between category and sub-category in Tworrder and how to install them), and one of mine (a sub-category? I can’t tell) won’t go away, the delete option isn’t there, and it loads under any category I install. Any links or somewhere you can point me to understand the category system?

    3) I had the RSS feed selection on the right column for a while and now it’s disappeared, but still shows I have it selected and placed in my Widgets place. But it’s working, a friend can select it. Any ideas why it’s not showing?

    I’m using Firefox 3.0.14 on an older G4 Mac. Thanks for your time…

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      #1 is a general WordPress issue, you can’t force line breaks in WordPress

      #2 I’m sure I understand. Here’s some more information on Categories. http://tinyurl.com/yezrgaa

      #3 There a speperate widget panel for pages and for the blog. Log under widgets and you’ll see two sidebars.

    Hi John! I was wondering how could I extend my custom header all the way to the top, right now I have a white space on the top of my header. Any help will be much appreciated.

  • Anonymous

    I love your theme, but why aren’t any of the background images showing up in IE7? I thought I’d see another post about that since I’m surprised if I’m the only one with the issue.
    I experimented with a main background image, added through the theme options; and also added background images to the css of the #nav-overlay, #footer-overlay, and #main-overlay, and for more experimentation added one to h1.
    None of them show up in IE.
    Everything looks great in Firefox.
    Safari shows all the backgrounds except the H1.
    Thanks

  • Heather

    Hi John

    I posted before, but no reply, and no solution so far. There doesn’t seem to be a way to get back to the home page of the blog once you’ve clicked on one of the other tabs. Is there a way to add a ‘home’ tab?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Hi Heather, I have answered that question before in the comments. Here’s a link to some solutions. http://tinyurl.com/y8rm3a9

    Hi, John. I like using your theme, but need to know if I can move the “nav bar” so it fits between the header and body like most other websites. (right now it covers up my Title and photo) I’d also like the nav bar black with white letters. If you tell me how to edit the code, I’ll give it a try… I’ll be ANXIOUSLY waiting!!! Debbie Fiskum, The Home Decor Genie!

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Hi Debbi, This can be done with css but out of the box it doe not provide that functionality. I’ll be releasing a new theme soon with the nav under the header :)

  • http://www.jamespequignot.com/index.php James Pequignot

    Hey john

    I love the theme. It gives me all the features I need, and although I’m not a coder, I’ve been able to find and tweak all the code I’ve needed to. I’m trying to make my background picture scaling so that it has a height and width of 100% no matter what the client resolution is, I’ve found the applicable code, but I cant seem to apply it to the theme successfully. Can you shed any light on this?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Hi James,

      You could post the code and I’ll take a look but not sure. Also Check out Bandzilla.net. It’s WordPress for bands http://www.vimeo.com/6691281

    Is there any possibility to have it in spanish language?

    So I’m loving the Twordder theme, but am having one problem getting it going – when I enter a ColourLovers.com ID, nothing happens and there is a broken image icon to the right. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner

      Are you entering the ID then clicking “get colors”?

      • Anonymous

        Hi John. Great theme, but I’m having the same problem. Nothing happens when I click ‘get colors’…pardon the amateur question but is the ID just the name? (i.e. “U inspire me”?) or am I looking for a #?

        • http://johndturner.com John Turner

          Hi , the id is the number in the URL in you case the number is 1026430

          • Anonymous

            Thanks John. I’m still not getting any result when I hit get colors though…hitting save changes after get. any suggestions? thank u

  • Esther

    I’m using your twordder theme on my blog storyzon.com/blog and I’m having some trouble with the appearances. I customized the background with an image and changed the color settings. However, the image rarely appears when I go to the blog. I cleared my cache and checked the blog form other computers and web browsers with no luck.

    Any ideas why this is happening? Or any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    I can’t seem to find a way to change the blog content background to something other than white. Is that possible?

  • Jim

    Hi John, Thanks for this awesome theme. I have a question – The side bar (with links, archives, etc. shows up on my blog page, but not on any additional pages that I create. Do you know how I can fix this? Thanks for your help!

  • John Turner

    Yep, there are tow side bars one for pages and one for the blog, look under widgets

  • Robert Padgett

    Hi, I’m using Twordder and I love it. My site is http://hondurasarts.com, I would like to know how I can change the size of the fonts. Where in the stylesheet can I change this?

  • Robert Padgett

    Sorry forgot to mention that the font I would like to change is the one from the top navegation bar :)

  • John Turner

    you'll need to change it with css. use class .yuimenuitemlabel{ font-size:16px }

  • Robert Padgett

    Hi John, thank you very much for your help. I added the font-size:16px to the class .yuimenuitemlable as you told me to:.yuimenuitemlabel { font-size:16px padding:5px; font-weight:bold;}and in increased the width of the nav bar but didn’t increase the font size. What else should I change to increase the font? Thanks

  • John Turner

    this works for me. you're missing a semi colon on the end of your font declaration.. yuimenuitemlabel {font-size:16px  <————- add a semi colonpadding:5px;font-weight:bold;}

  • Robert Padgett

    Thanks John, now it’s working perfectly :)

  • amy

    Hi, John — great theme! I love everything it offers, but would really love a 3-column option. I wish I understood the code well enough to add it myself, but my skills lie elsewhere. Can you help? (and if you can, THANK YOU in advance. I know support questions like this are a PIA, and if I could do it on my own, I really would!)

  • John Turner

    3 col would be nice, but it would not be easy to add to Twordder. I hope to be releasing a new theme soon with a 3 col option.

  • mnkyking

    Hi, first off thanks for the great theme.I had a question regarding the header links-how difficult is it to adjust the CSS so that they display vertically rather than horizontally? My knowledge of scripting is pretty limited, but I am willing to try any suggestions. The reason I’d like to do this is that they are flowing over into my header image, which I’d like to prevent and still maintain them as legible and functioning.Any ideas?Thanks in advance!

  • John Turner

    not very easy, it could be done, but a pain

  • Laura

    Hi, John.I’m using Twordder in a couple of sites I’m working on right now (lauragiusti.com.ar/home and banegro.e-tic-a.com.ar… but I will move them when they’ll be ready) ans it’s great! Really.In one case, I have to change the size of the title and tagline of the blog. Please, tell me how can I do it.Thanks you very much

  • John Turner

    you can change it with custom css: you could do something like:#header h1{ font-size:22px;} #desc{ font-size:18px; }

  • Laura

    Thank you, I did but it didn’t work. Maybe I put it ina wrong place? I put it in the stylesheet… Where in the stylesheet or whereelse do I have to insert that? Thanks again

  • John Turner

    try this: #header h1 a{ font-size:22px; } #desc{ font-size:18px; } just increase the font size number

  • Laura

    Thanks, John. What stylesheet says now it’s:/* Base *//* base.css, part of YUI’s CSS Foundation */h1 { /*24px via YUI Fonts CSS foundation*/ font-size:182 %; }h2 { /*18px via YUI Fonts CSS foundation*/ font-size:138.5 %; }h3 { /*16px via YUI Fonts CSS foundation*/ font-size:123.1%; }h1,h2,h3 { /* top & bottom margin based on font size */ margin:0 0;}h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,strong { /*bringing boldness back to headers and the strong element*/ font-weight:bold; I puted it like this, looking at Yui’s fonts table, but size still the same than original. I can’t find #header h1{font-size:??px;}#desc{font-size:??px;}to change it. As you can see, I’trying without knowledge, so it’s not easy for me!!Thank you again

  • kerry

    OMG I love this theme! You have made it so easy to do customising of background/logo! I love love love it!

  • John Turner

    thx :)

  • kerry

    i hope i can reply here? I am going to donate to you, i don’t have much, but will.  Also do you know how I can take the comments closed line off the pages?

  • John Turner

    thx you for the donation :) can you send me an example of where you see " comments closed"? On line 57 on single.php is a message. but if you send me an example I can pin point it.

  • Kerry

    Hi John, I need to have the site look HTML site with no comments provision anywhere. I looked at single.php line 57 but didn’t know what to do. Thank you :)

  • John Turner

    Can you send me a link with an example. I'm not sure i understand what you are trying to do.

  • kerre

    http://mountainbearcrafts.com/wordpress/ see how it says Comments Closed?  I’d like to delete that if it is possible.   I appreciate your help.

  • John Turner

    Do you mean were it says "Comments Off" I don't see the text "Comments Closed"

  • kerre

    Yes, and I am sorry, I missread it.

  • John Turner

    oh , okopen index.php and find this code:<div class="alignright f-right">    <?php comments_popup_link('No Comments', '1 Comment', '% Comments'); ?><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/comment.png" alt="Comments" class="comment-img"/> </div> Make it look like:<div class="alignright f-right"> </div>

  • Kerry

    YOU ARE AWESOME! IT WORKED!! Thank you so much and so sorry to have been a bother.

  • John Turner

    no prob :)

  • Kerry

    And lastly, the client wants to get rid of the menu on the right completely and just have menu on the left side bar. I have tried and can’t do it, maybe it’s not possible?

  • John Turner

    not sure i understand, do you menu the menu in the top right that list the pages?

  • Kerry

    Yes, the menu at the top right, it’s that yui menu right? I like it, but client only wants the sidebar listing.

  • John Turner

    put this in your css:#navmenu{display:none;}

  • Kerry

    Is there a special place in the CSS where I should put it? I’ve tried a couple places and it did not work, but I’m probably doing something wrong.

  • John Turner

    use the !important rule#navmenu{display:none !important;}

  • Kerry

    Again, you are totally awesome! Thank you thank you!

  • Kerry

    Sigh, everything is coming along, now client wants different header on 2nd page. I made a second page.php, but then realized there is the custom header file. Is there a way in Twordder to make a 2nd page have different header? Thanks

  • John Turner

    It's possible but would take custom programing. Twordder doesn't provide that out of the box.

  • Kerry

    Here I am again, sorry. The site is almost done, they are only using 2 pages of WordPress with your theme, the rest of their site is HTML. Therefore they wanted the header to be the same if possible. Question, can I take the header they have, it has image maps for links, use it and drop the map coordinates into the header.php? Does that make sense or am I way off base? Thank you for you time and help!

  • John Turner

    Sure, of course, basically you can do any thing you want with theme. It's all open source, so just go in and make your changes in header.php.

  • kerre

    IM SO EXCITED, I got the image up and the links, though i have to straighten out the image maps!  I did it!  I’m just a girl with no PHP at all! thank you!!

  • kerre

    sigh, I give up, I got the header w/image map to work only on the homepage, not the posts or other pages. Thank you for all your help anyway :)

  • kerre

    Got my issue worked out! Image map works everything is good to go. Your theme is awesome, I tweaked it very little. Thank you! It will go live this week!

  • Alistair Hayward

    Hi, If I have seperate pages on my website, can I load PhotoQ to have a photo page blogging pics that is seperate from the homepage? Thanks

  • John Turner

    not sure you might want to into a static home page option in wordpress

  • Lindsay

    Hi, I decided to use wordpress.org to do my wedding website but of course I have no idea what I’m doing.I really LOVE your theme because it’s the most customizable but I ran into two problems…not sure what I’m doing wrong?1) I want some of my pages to have no sidebar but when I choose the “Page no sidebar” template, my custom header and background is gone and everything is just white (except for the text)2) I hope I can explain this right…It looks like the main wrapper only conforms to text? I created a page and inserted a picture in the entry but instead of remaining white, it reveals my custom background underneath but only where the picture is.I hope you can help me! I will of course donate (bribe you, lol)! Thank you so much~

  • Lindsay

    hi, me again…I was actually able to figure out my 1st problem but the 2nd one is still there =/. I basically have to enter enough text to cover the height of the inserted photo so that the background doesn’t show up underneath.

  • John Turner

    can you post a url link so i can see your 2 problem

  • kerre

    Tworrder is simply awesome and John’s help was fantastic, I totally recommend it to everyone! I will be using it again.

  • Brian

    Hi John:I can’t find the default.css file anywhere and am trying to increase the margin for the header to 108 pixels tall… where can I find this?

  • Brian

    Nevermind – got it. Thanks.

  • Jeffrey

    Hi John! I like your Twordder theme a ton, and would like to switch my website over to it but have been having a hard time getting the logo and purity statements situated. Do you have any suggestions how I can replicate my current site, onto wordpress using your theme? just anything? It’s been hard to do on my own and I’d appreciate any help you can offer.

  • John Turner

    Hi Jeffrery,It really comes down to your knowledge of css to tweak Twordder. You might want consider a theme such as Canvas that has more options. Here's a link: http://www.woothemes.com/amember/go.php?r=12635&i=l64 Canvas by WooThemes

  • johnhewitt

    Hi there and thanks for a fantastic theme. If possible I would love to have the tops of the content and page links and footer as a round edge; i.e I want to remove the eliptic top edges and have a smooth curve instead. Are the round edges images i.e with margins can they be pushed down to form a continuous curve?I hope this makes sensethanks in advance

  • John Turner

    The rounded corner are done via the css. Look in style.css and you should be able to change it there.

  • johnhewitt

    Thanks. I am a little lost though as to which part relates to the round edges. Any more hints?Many thanks

  • Ben

    Hey John, Love your theme. Im looking to adjust the width of the sidebar. Ive been messing with the css but I guess im missing it. Can you point me to the right lines.

  • Chaz Scholton

    I just installed this on WordPress 3.1 and it does not work with it. Any plans on updating it?

    • http://johndturner.com John Turner
